Join the Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative work party to remove Scotch Broom on Saturday, September 11th from 9:45AM to Noon at the Waxmyrtle Day Use Area and Sand Road. We will meet at the Waxmyrtle Day Use Area adjacent to Waxmyrtle Campground. We will be working along the sand road, so the terrain will be relatively flat. Scotch broom plants range from small to large.

Please note, due to Covid-19, we will need to stay a safe distance apart (6 feet) while working and wear face coverings if we need to get closer to each other.

Please bring loppers, shovels, or hand saws along with gloves, water and snacks. Long pants, sturdy closed-toe boots or shoes, and a hat are recommended. If you need tools, ODRC can provide a few hand saws, loppers, weed pullers or shovels.

Directions: From Florence, take Highway 101 South approximately 8 miles. Look for the Siltcoos Recreation Area sign. Turn right onto Siltcoos Beach Access Rd. Go approximately 1 mile and turn left at the Waxmyrtle Campground sign. Go across the bridge and park along the side of the road and the loop by the gate. Please do not block the gate and leave room for vehicles to pass by. We will meet at the gate. Parking is limited so carpool if you can.
