As part of Power of Florence, the Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative is sponsoring a Scotch broom removal event at Heceta Dunes. This event is on Saturday, July 22 from 10 AM to Noon. Volunteers are needed to continue our efforts to remove invasive Scotch broom from one of our “Protect the Best” sites.

Bring shovels, loppers, or small hand saws if you have them, or if you don’t, we will have some tools you can borrow. Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes for hiking in the sand and bring water, snacks, and sunscreen. It will be a short walk on relatively flat ground to the work site.

Directions: Take Highway 101 north of Florence and turn left on Heceta Beach Rd., turn right on 4th Ave. and go to the end, turn right on Joshua Lane and go to the end. Please do not block driveways or mailboxes.
