Tuesday, May 15, Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park – gorse pulling. 10:00 AM to Noon, or a little later if needed to get all the gorse.

The gorse is generally small, so bring a trowel or shovel. Loppers are optional. Most are small enough you won’t need loppers. Bring LEATHER gloves if you have them because gorse has sharp needles that will go through cloth gloves. Bring water. Sunscreen and bug repellent optional. Closed-toe shoes and long pants recommended.

Please do not bring dogs to this event.

This event is being hosted by the Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative (SaveOregonDunes.org) and Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park.

Directions:

Take Hwy 101 south from Florence, turn LEFT (EAST) on Canary Road (this is the street ACROSS from the park’s west entrance), go across the bridge, park just past the bridge in the turnout on the right side of the road and we will meet there.

We will walk back through a trail and then cross a bridge (west) that crosses over Hwy 101. Then turn left on paved trail. At the wood sign about CCC’s turn left and take the dirt trail down the hill. There is some uphill and downhill on the trail and some stairs. It mostly follows the lake shore. It is a little over a mile to the gorse site.
