First volunteer work party of 2022!
The Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative (ODRC) is excited to announce our first work party of 2022.  After a long winter the ODRC has planned its first work party to be held on Saturday, April 30th at Heceta Dunes.  Everyone is invited to come spend the morning pulling scotch broom and gorse at this lovely location.  This location has been worked on for many years by local volunteers.  This is a great opportunity to see how just a handful of volunteers have made a huge impact on one local area.  Please join the ODRC on April 30th at 10AM.  We plan to pull weeds for about two hours.  Then volunteers will break for lunch (lunch is not provided).  Anyone interested can join ODRC outreach coordinator Jamie Harrison on a guided hike after a break from pulling weeds.  Wear good walking shoes and bring plenty of water.RECOMMENDED TO BRING: Shovels and hoes work well for the small plants.  Loppers, tree saws, and shovels work well for the larger plants. Gorse sprouts are known to grow back, so larger plants need to have the roots dug out. Bring leather gloves if you have them, gorse has nasty thorns. Bring drinking water and a snack. Sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants, and a hat are recommended. A limited number of tools and gloves will be available if needed.

DIRECTIONS: From Florence, take Highway 101 North, turn LEFT on Heceta Beach Rd., go 1.9 miles and turn RIGHT on 4th St., go to the end and turn RIGHT on to Joshua Lane, and go to the end of the road. Please don’t block driveways and mailboxes.
