The Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative (ODRC) is encouraging our volunteers to take advantage of a great opportunity to learn about the dunes and join with volunteers from the Siuslaw Watershed Council, the University of Oregon and other organizations. The tour and work will occur at the Oregon Dunes Day Use Area, which is located on the west side of Highway 101 near mile marker 201. Join the Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative and Oregon State University (OSU) on May 20th to remove invasive Scotch broom from the Oregon Dunes Day Use Area. We will be working from 10 a.m. - noon with an optional field trip to the beach following the work session to see restoration efforts and snowy plover nesting areas. Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative member, Dina Pavlis, will present a talk entitled, "Secrets of the Oregon Dunes," at the Siuslaw Public Library District on Saturday, July 15, at 1:00 PM. The talk will include dunes history, geology, topography, and conservation efforts, as well as some information about the plants and animals that call the Oregon Dunes home. The hike will provide a chance to learn about the history, geology, topography, plants and wildlife of the Oregon dunes. Scotch Broom Removal at Heceta Dunes on July 22 – Power of Florence Event

As part of Power of Florence, the Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative is sponsoring a Scotch broom removal event at Heceta Dunes. This event is on Saturday, July 22 from 10 AM to Noon. Volunteers are needed to continue our efforts to remove invasive Scotch broom from one of our "Protect the Best" sites. Bring shovels, loppers, or small hand saws if you have them, or if you don't, we will have some tools you can borrow.
