Help Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative volunteers remove Scotch broom at Heceta Dunes on Saturday, November 9 from 10AM to Noon. Meet at the east end of Joshua Lane. There will be a short hike to where we will be working. We will be removing various sizes of Scotch broom on flat to moderate slopes.  If you need to leave early or want to work later, you are welcome to do so. We want to remove Scotch broom and gorse from Heceta Dunes, because it is one of the “Protect the Best” sites due to its open sand sheets and native grasses.

This work party is weather-dependent. If the weather is predicted to be rainy, we will cancel, so check back to this page a day before the event. If we do work this day, it will be the last event at Heceta Dunes for the calendar year. If it is raining and we cancel, we may try to have one more work party in early December, weather-permitting.

BRING: shovels or spades, loppers, tree saws, gloves, and drinking water. Sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants, and a hat are recommended. A limited number of tools will be available to borrow if you need them.

DIRECTIONS: From Florence, take Highway 101 NORTH. Turn LEFT on Heceta Beach Road. Turn RIGHT on 4th Avenue. Turn RIGHT on Joshua Lane…drive to the east end of Joshua Lane for parking (Please do not block driveways, mail boxes or fire hydrants).
